SUMMARY:CSTM/SCTM Conference 2024
DESCRIPTION:CSTM/SCTM Conference\, May 10-11\, 2024 \nPlease see the call for papers here (abstracts due April 12\, 2024). \nThe annual conference of the Canadian Society for Traditional Music will be held virtually from May 10–11\, 2024. By employing a fully online format for this year’s conference\, we are following other scholarly societies\, in the aim of increasing and diversifying participation\, exploring new forms of scholarly communication\, and reducing the carbon footprint of our operations. \nThe forthcoming conference – A Conference in the Round: Collaborative Dialogues for Ethnomusicology – is inspired by the successful Dialogues hosted in 2021 by ICTMD/CSTM. It is envisaged as a series of roundtables on current\, critical themes such as: Archival Listening; Representing Language in and throughout ethnomusicological scholarship; and the Current State (or “états des lieux”) of Ethnomusicology in Canada. We also encourage potential presenters to consider the themes for the 2025 ICTMD World Conference\, or suggest other themes for lively roundtable discussion.
